Specialist Network

MTIS brings in independent specialist engineers on a project basis, so each investigation is staffed by the person best placed to answer its question rather than whoever happens to be free.

Why MTIS works this way

Materials problems are not evenly distributed. A high-temperature creep question, a subsea coating failure and a weld metallurgy dispute need three different specialists, and no consultancy of sensible size employs all three. MTIS already applies this principle to laboratories — the question decides the method, and the method decides which partner laboratory runs it. The specialist network applies the same logic to people.

Specialists remain independent. They are not employees, they choose which projects they take, and they keep their own practice and their own clients.

Who we are interested in

How a project runs

  1. Register an interest. You tell us your field, your standing and the kind of work you want.
  2. We talk. A conversation about your specialism and how you work, not a form-filling exercise.
  3. Terms are agreed in writing before any work begins — scope, fee basis, confidentiality, intellectual property, insurance and liability. Nothing is assumed.
  4. You are approached for specific projects. You decide each time whether to take it.
  5. MTIS carries the client relationship — contracting, invoicing, quality review and the final deliverable.

What we ask of you

This page is an invitation to talk, not an offer of work. Registering an interest creates no obligation on either side. MTIS makes no representation about the volume, frequency or value of any project work, and commercial terms are agreed individually in writing before any engagement begins.

Bringing your own client to MTIS

Some specialists want the technical work without the administrative load that comes with it — contracting, invoicing, quality assurance and report production. MTIS can carry that side of a project you have originated. The arrangement, and what MTIS charges for it, is agreed case by case in writing before the project starts.

We read everything that arrives and reply to those we want to talk to. We would rather build this slowly and well than quickly and badly.

Not a specialist — but you have a materials problem?
