Research designed around your question
Not every materials question is a failure. Sometimes the need is to understand a recurring issue, qualify a new or substitute material, characterise a process, or explore whether a different approach would perform better. MTIS Materials Research designs and delivers a testing and research programme around that specific question — rather than selling a fixed package of tests.
We combine senior materials-engineering judgement with an international network of specialist laboratories and academic partners, so each programme uses the methods that actually answer the question, and the results come back interpreted by the engineer who designed the work.
When to commission research
- You have a recurring problem you need to understand at a deeper, root level before committing to a fix.
- You are qualifying or substituting a material and need evidence of how it will behave in your environment.
- You want to optimise a process — and need to know what is actually driving performance or defects.
- You are developing something new and want independent materials expertise alongside your own team.
How we work
- Define the question. We scope precisely what needs to be known, and why, before any testing begins.
- Design the programme. The right characterisation, testing and analysis methods are selected for the material and the question — drawing on our partner-laboratory network for specialist techniques.
- Deliver and interpret. Results are analysed and turned into engineering conclusions and practical direction, not raw data for you to decode.
